Weird Scenes Off-Broadway

A foray into the suspicious activities of the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity and its collaborators.

On the night of May 23rd, 2024, in the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater, the musical The Secrets We Keep had its New York City opening night. The musical had a limited NYC run, showing only until May 26th. The play was written and directed by Danielle Wiransky, a PhD candidate at Florida State University with an MA in History, as the founder of the Florida State University (FSU) based theater troupe White Mouse Theatre Productions. On the surface The Secrets We Keep is a Holocaust musical steeped in slavic folklore.¹ But in essence The Secrets We Keep is a product of the imperialist run, often intelligence managed, academic-philanthropic networks that have increasingly pervaded U.S. society since the post-War era. The Secrets We Keep is not unique. All across this country and world there are all sorts of fucked up monstrous productions of art, literature, performance, music, etc. that have been produced with the intent of carrying out a set of political objectives that are often unbeknownst to even the participants of these projects. By studying this particular instance, one can come to understand some of the general aspects and characteristics of the larger imperialist superstructure that employs the collaboration of Wall Street execs, the genocidal zionist entity, zionist philanthropic-trafficking fronts, academic institutes, and the CIA.

A TheaterMania promotional page for The Secrets We Keep reads, “Danielle Wirsansky, as part of the Elie Wiesel Social Action Fellowship, is spearheading the creation and production of a compelling musical, in partnership with White Mouse Theatre Productions, aimed at Holocaust education and countering anti-Semitism.” Wiransky herself has described the musical as, “... an exploration of the Holocaust through folklore, so if you’re not familiar with the Rusalki, those are a slavic mythological creature that’s really similar to the siren, it's the spirit of women who have been drowned, and I was looking at it through a Holocaust lens by exploring victims of the Holocaust, women who were drowned, and how they became Rusalki and how being trapped in this state and with this mythology affects our understanding of the Holocaust today.” One need not think very hard what intended message comes with producing art with the intent of “countering anti-semitism” in the midst of the historic Student Intifada in America and the ongoing US-backed israeli genocide of Palestinians. Even theaters in NYC understood this, as the original venue slated to host the play cancelled, citing the ongoing anger the public feels towards the US-backed israeli genocide.

The play follows a gay American couple that travels to a Polish village to learn about their ancestors that lived there until WWII. Throughout the course of the play the couple learns that their ancestors were also lesbians that dated each other. Except one of them was a Jew and the other one ended up being a collaborator that allowed her partner to be killed in a pogrom. The play depicts modern day Poles as unanimously denying the Holocaust, and seems to call attention to a 2018 Polish law that sought to downplay the role of Polish collaboration in the Holocaust. We do not deny the extreme degree to which some Poles collaborated with the Nazis, but the historical timing of a play such as this one and it being written by a dedicated zionist, is vulgar and opportunistic. The Secrets We Keep seeks to exploit the Holocaust in order to garner support for the genocide of Palestinians. Any suspicion of a generally pro-genocidal politic is confirmed by the monetary cosign of the Elie Wiesel Social Action Fellowship, a subsidiary of the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity.

Elie Wiesel was a famous Holocaust survivor who would go on to help found the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.² The museum's highest honor was given to, and subsequently named after, Wiesel. It is given to, “internationally prominent individuals whose actions have advanced the Museum’s vision of a world where people confront hatred, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity.”³ Wiesel seems to actually have done a poor job at “preventing” genocide, as he would collaborate with the genocidal israeli state in a personal and institutional manner through his foundation. He would also be a staunch supporter of israeli state policy throughout his life and performed his own forms of genocide denial regarding the Nakba and subsequent displacement and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from their historic homeland. Wiesel stated in a 2001 New York Times Op-Ed:

Incited by their leaders, 600,000 Palestinians left the country convinced that, once Israel was vanquished, they would be able to return home. I have seen their children in the Gaza refugee camps; their fate can leave none of us indifferent. It is imperative that we resolve this problem. But the solution of a mass return is unthinkable...What I am about to say I say with great sadness: After seeing on television, during the Intifada, the faces of young Palestinians twisted with hate, it is more difficult than ever before for me to believe in the Palestinians' will for peace. It is not that they want a smaller Israel; they want no Israel at all.⁴

To frame the US-British backed Nakba, a genocidal act carried out with meticulous planning and intention, as something incited by Arab leaders is historical revisionism and downright wicked. The added confirmation that the Palestinian diaspora should never be allowed to return to their land shows that Wiesel understands the Nakba as a key event in israeli history that opened the door to unrestricted settlements, something Wiesel seeks to protect. The description of Palestinian faces “twisted with hate” reeks of the national chauvinism and racism of an Amerikkkan variety. This is but one of countless quotes from Wiesel expressing such bloodthirsty zionist sentiments, and we could spend a great deal of time criticizing them. Instead, let us take a look at the actions Wiesel and his foundation took throughout his life that give us insights into the financial, political, and personal motivations behind his racism.

Some of Elie’s earliest collaboration with the israeli state was acquiescing to their request to step down as the chair of a conference discussing the connections between the Holocaust and Armenian genocide that was being held in occupied Jaffa. Not only did Wiesel immediately agree to aid the israeli denial of the Armenian genocide, he provided the israeli Foreign Ministry with internal documents from the planning of the conference. He also aided attempts to get the Armenian section of the conference dropped altogether.⁵ What Wiesel and his family experienced at the hands of the Nazi regime are horrifying and should not be allowed to occur ever again. Unfortunately we live in an imperialist dominated world where many genocides have occurred since the Holocaust. Wiesel had no right to use his lived experience as a cudgel with which he attempted to rewrite the history of the Armenian genocide and act as a complicit mouthpiece of the Palestinian genocide at the behest of his imperialist Zionist-Academic handlers and monopoly capitalist philanthropic benefactors. It would seem there were genocides Wiesel was quite approving of.

The founding of the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity would mark the beginning of Wiesel’s ability to wield real institutional power. The story goes that the foundation was founded in 1986 using the money from Wiesel’s Nobel Peace Prize awarded that same year. This is a quaint story that we believe to be missing significant details regarding funding. The foundation was founded, “to combat indifference, intolerance and injustice through international dialogue and youth-focused programs that promote acceptance, understanding and equality.”⁶

One of the foundation's early initiatives that survives to this day is the Beit Tzipora centers in “israel”, established for Jewish Ethiopian youth fleeing Ethiopia in the 1990s. The program had a center in occupied Al-Majdal and another in occupied Qastina,⁷ which was the site of a brutal ethnic cleansing during the Nakba. Both settlements are miles from the Gaza fence, where millions of Palestinians have languished in an open air prison and have now suffered over a year of genocide. The centers “focus on educating the Ethiopian-Jewish community and giving Ethiopian-Israeli young people the opportunity to grow, excel, and participate fully in Israeli society. The centers currently enroll more than 1,000 boys and girls in after-school programs and serve as a model for other schools.”⁸ It is unclear how many thousands passed through the program during the 90s. The previously cited web page goes on to describe how the Beit Tzipora centers are now functionally run by Women’s International Zionist Organization (WIZO). WIZO was founded in 1920 and provided social services like clinics and daycares to zionist settlers in Palestine. To this day it provides social services to “israelis” and promotes women’s interests in settler society. The most interesting detail on this WIZO page describes how they came into collaboration with the Elie Wiesel Foundation, “We are grateful to Rabbi Shmuley Boteach for having brought our organizations together to provide educational opportunities in our beloved Israel.” This should give pause to anyone familiar with zionist politics and the broader criminal philanthropic-imperialist networks. Before we delve into the extremely questionable history of WIZO, and why it may be unwise to task them with a childcare and relocation program, it is worth discussing the famous Rabbi Shmuly and the ways in which he is emblematic of the broader imperialist power politics at play in this case.

Rabbi Shmuly Boteach is a celebrity rabbi who came out of the orthodox Chabad Lubavitch tradition which follows the teachings of the deceased Chabad Rebbe Schneerson. We could discuss Schneerson a great deal but for the sake of brevity, rest assured he is a genocidal zionist who oversaw the rampant abuse of women and children within his community. Lubavitchers also started a settlement in the Virgin Islands, where the Chabad Virgin Islands is about a mile or so from Epstein’s Little St. James Island.⁹ This could be written off as coincidence if it were not for Epstein’s consistent financial support of Lubavitch owned schools and facilities, as well as their shared interests of zionism and child abuse. The Chabad communities have been embroiled in child sexual abuse scandals for years.¹⁰ They most recently made headlines for a series of connected tunnels that messianic followers of Schneerson’s had dug beneath church properties in New York in order to achieve a closer proximity to his corpse. We have no doubt that this particular tunnel situation contains greater complexities, but we must move on.

At 22 Boteach was assigned as a Lubavitch shaliach to Oxford, England and would serve as a rabbi for Oxford University. At Oxford he would go on to form the L’Chaim Society, which was controversially left open to non-Jewish members. This allowed its membership to balloon to over 5,000 non-Jewish members, becoming the second largest student organization in the history of Oxford.¹¹ The group has prominent former members such as U.S. Senator Cory Booker, who maintained a friendship with Boteach until recent years. One may wonder why a student group associated with a highly sectarian Orthodox branch of Judaism would leave its membership open to non-Jews. A very likely reason would be to spread pro-Zionist, anti-communist politics and rhetoric among students at a highly influential university, evidenced by L’Chaim guest speakers Elie Wiesel and Mikhail Gorbachev. Boteach even admits as much:

As Boteach explains it, by the winter of 1989 the PLO presence on campuses had grown. ‘I thought that was becoming the new normal, and we had to respond,’ he says. And L’Chaim took off like a rocket, a student society different from anything Oxford had ever seen. Among its star guests, he says, were ‘six Israeli prime ministers — today that would be unthinkable, the police wouldn’t allow it’. Former Australian premier Bob Hawke and former Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev, plus actor Jon Voight, were also guests. ‘Nobody competed with L’Chaim,’ Boteach remembers fondly. Even the Oxford Union Society, bowing to the L’Chaim ‘pull’ of world-renowned speakers, began to hold joint events with it.¹²

Someone like Senator Booker is a prime example of the good little imperialist zionists the L’Chaim Society churned out. Perhaps the exceptional connections and speakers of the Oxford L’Chaim Society, which would launch the Chabad model and pave the way for its successful expansion to American campuses, was facilitated by Mossad. Chabad Lubavitch, which was footing the bill for the L’Chaim Society, has a long history of collaboration with Mossad. Meir Dagan, former director of Mossad, had this to say following a remark about how many Lubavitchers serve in Mossad, “Chabad gets a Yashar Koach (kudos) because thanks to them the synagogue at the Mossad command was renovated and we now have a luxurious shul.”¹³ The relationship between Lubavitch/Rebbe Schneerson and the IOF/Mossad is further detailed in the 1998 book “The Rebbe and the Mossad” and the JEM documentary Faithful and Fortified. The extensive connections between seemingly innocuous academic organizations and intelligence agencies will be a recurring theme of this broader foray into imperial academia.

Yet another mark against Boteach is his collaborative friendship with the alleged pedophile child abuser Michael Jackson. Interestingly, Boteach and Jackson were introduced to each other by the israeli chaos agent Uri Geller. Geller himself collaborated with the fed infested Stanford Research Institute, CIA, DIA, and ARPA as part of the secret Stargate program¹⁴ that sought to unlock the potentialities of remote viewing, a mythical phenomenon that US intelligence believed the Soviets were making advances in. The Jackson-Boteach-Geller triad of evil would have one of their early meetings at the Carlebach Shul, an Orthodox synagogue located at 305 West 79th Street in New York City. From the late 60s till his death in 1994, the synagogue was led by the eccentric Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach. Carlebach gained notoriety for his love of lively religious music that has gained worldwide popularity in a wide range of temples. Carlebach promoted his congregation by appealing to women’s rights within Judaism, a particularly cruel and predatory form of opportunism considering Carlebach was a pedophile who was sexually assaulting women and children in his congregation.¹⁵ Allegations of Carlebach’s abuses and the current leadership's complicity were made very public in Lilith magazine in 1998, an entire year before the three men would meet at the shul.

We have little doubt that one intent of the Jackson-Boteach-Geller meeting at Carlebach Shul was to introduce Jackson to kids he could prey on and bring into the orbit of larger abuse networks, as it was a space friendly to and in service of powerful pedophiles, but it certainly wasn’t the only purpose. Geller stated in a glowing commemoration he wrote for the deceased pedophile, “It was during the synagogue service that I began to understand how Michael’s gift for bestowing blessings might be most generously spread. Shmuley had the same idea and…the rabbi was able to put his particular gift for practical energy to good use - together, they founded the charity Heal The Kids.”¹⁶ Boteach and Jackson teamed up to promote Heal The Kids at an Oxford Union event in 2001, where Jackson delivered remarks that give insight to his larger vision for the charity, “I come before you less as an icon of pop and more as an icon of a generation, a generation that no longer knows what it means to be children…It is not just Hollywood child stars that have suffered from a non-existent childhood. Today it's a universal calamity."¹⁷ On the surface this quote is banal and one of a million NGO charity rhetorical strategies. But one should consider that Boteach was well aware of allegations against Jackson prior to starting Heal The Kids together, and presumably believed the allegations against Jackson to be credible, since he had established a rehab program for Jackson that involved not spending time with children that weren’t his.¹⁸ Boteach’s rehab program is quite curious since he had, years prior, praised Jackson for hanging around kids, “...they said anyone who spends that amount of time with kids has to be sick. Well, that's not an indictment of Michael Jackson, that's an indictment of our society!"¹⁹ The only explanation is that some time between March 2001 and the duo’s 2002 falling out, which was allegedly due to Jackson’s failure to follow the “rehab program”, Boteach would have reason to believe the allegations against Jackson were credible. We will not allow Boteach to play innocent here, he likely knew from the very beginning what kind of man Jackson was. This fact is what makes Heal the Kids’ mission to awaken the child inside everyone so materially threatening.

Michael Jackson was attempting to popularize the justification (i.e. theory) and practice of his own pedophilia to the general public. Jackson believed he had been denied a childhood and therefore a dominant aspect of his own identity was that of a child. This is what enabled Jackson, in his mind, to have romantic and sexual relations with kids. Jackson and Boteach were trying to tell the public that it is okay to be an adult who seeks to return to the haven of childhood and take that return as far as establishing predatory relations with kids. In the wings is their MK-Ultra chaos agent and IDF-terrorist Uri Geller, directing the two in how to best spread their sinister forms of “joy”. All the while, sitting on the board of Heal the Kids was former israeli PM Shimon Peres as well as our old friend, Elie Wiesel!

By laundering Heal the Kids donation money into the pedo friendly and Lubavitcher’s controlled L’Chaim Oxford,²⁰ Boteach was able to satisfy his personal commitment to the zionist-pedophile alliance. Jackson provided the celebrity status to bring Heal the Kids into proximity of large amounts of kids, presumably his immediate material desire. Zionist war criminal Peres and the highly esteemed Elie Wiesel provided legitimacy in the practice of zionist normalization and philanthropy. Wiesel’s participation helped create the illusion that Heal the Kids was anything other than what even The Guardian couldn’t help alluding to in 2001, “If the idea of a man once very publicly accused of abusing a teenage boy launching himself as an authority on parenting seems bewildering, the aims of Jackson's new charity remain distinctly hazy.” Those aims may have partially been to act as a front for the laundering of funds into other dubious zionist organizations, like Chabad Lubavitch or the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity. At its core, a front fueled by a faustian bargain between the seemingly legitimate zionist-academic-philanthropic elite and the high profile pedophile Michael Jackson who provided the fame to attract donors as well as real children in need, children whom he could have hypothetically preyed on with the protection of the former.

When one zooms out and takes a look at the larger Heal the Kids operation, it’s clear that the financial and pedophilic interests act intertwined, as a self-sustaining system. We do not want to let Jackson’s famed pedophilia shadow the fact that Boteach and Wiesel also run in religious, philanthropic, and monopoly finance circles that are rife with pedophiles. It is possible that while aiding in the procurement of kids to meet Jackson, Boteach and Wiesel could have easily been simultaneously procuring contacts for their associates. Not to mention the tri-function of Heal the Kids as mass manipulation and social conditioning- a highly vaunted charity with glowing media coverage that is attempting to invade the minds and lives of both kids and adults with the goal of perverting their relationship. Across all of these functions; money laundering, child sex abuse, and superstructural propaganda, we do not believe they are all equal. As in, the intended function of Heal the Kids is not perfectly split between them. Rather, money laundering is likely the dominant aspect that informs and guides the other aspects of Heal the Kids. This means the other aspects were in contradiction with the money laundering, as Jackson’s celebrity brought in money his pedophilia also raised eyebrows. While the mass marketed MK rhetoric of Heal the Kids was meant to have a broad sympathetic appeal, it was clearly seen as hypocritical by many. These are some factors that contributed to the shuttering of Heal the Kids. This is the essence of contradiction, the motor of change.

Within the nucleus of the Heal the Kids front were the remnants and continuation of the earlier Boteach initiated alliance of the Elie Wiesel-funded-Beit Tzipora and WIZO. If you recall, Boteach introduced Wiesel and his foundation to WIZO for the purpose of WIZO assuming operational responsibilities of the Beit Tzipora centers in occupied Palestine. This arrangement continues to this day. It was necessary to provide context to the pre-existing relationship between Wiesel and Boteach, and demonstrate how Boteach fits the mold for the type of charlatan that may have historically aided WIZO in activities that have often involved trafficking and disappearing children.

We have no doubt that the crimes of WIZO go back to its founding, as the entire history of the zionist settler colonial project is drenched in blood. For the purposes of this inquiry we will first look into perhaps the most quantitatively advanced era of WIZO child trafficking within israeli society, the Yemenite, Mizrahi, and Balkan children affair of the 1950s. The affair is a behemoth and we strongly encourage all readers to study it further on their own time. For a quick summary, we will cite the Amram Association at length:

In the early years of the State of Israel, and especially in the fifties, thousands of babies and toddlers disappeared from their families - families of immigrants who came to Israel and were housed in transit and absorption camps. About two-thirds of the children were from families of Yemenite immigrants. According to low estimates, in those years every eighth child of a Yemenite family disappeared. The remaining third of the children were from other Mizrachi families - Tunisian, Moroccan, Libyan, Iraqi and others – and a small number were children of families who immigrated from the Balkans. Thousands of testimonies by parents indicate a similar method: parents were asked to give their children to nurseries or hospitals [which were overwhelmingly run by WIZO- Digital Holodomor] under the pretext that there ‘they will be given more appropriate care.’ Sometimes children were violently taken by social workers or nurses, placed in ambulances and forcibly transferred to these institutions. The parents were not allowed to stay with their children and were told to go home and to return only to breastfeed their babies. A few days later the parents were told that their child had died. The parents never saw their child’s body and were not allowed to take their child to be buried. In many cases, parents did not receive a death certificate or received it much later, retroactively. A few dozen children were returned to their parents after the latter’s fierce protests, but the fate of most of the children is unknown. Many appeals to law enforcement agencies, government offices and various officials were unsuccessful. The children were not located and proof of their deaths was not found. On the contrary: some of them were found years later in the bosom of other families.²¹

Amram has documented hundreds of testimonies from abductees and their families and has produced a documentary series on the matter that is worthwhile viewing. It’s worth noting that the israeli government has done a number of inquiries and commissions into the affair, such as the Cohen-Kedmi Commission. The government has repeatedly denied that the abduction of Yemenite, Mizrahi, and Balkan kids was systematic and WIZO has been able to operate freely in israeli society since, so these commissions are about as useful as the Warren Commission was for Americans. The israeli government has gone to great lengths to withhold and presumably destroy materials regarding the affair.

The primary function, on WIZO’s part, of abducting all these children was to give the children to wealthy white (usually Ashkenazi) Jews in israeli society or to export the children to wealthy Jewish families abroad, many of whom financially supported zionist settler orgs and infrastructure, such as WIZO. These abductions were justified through a white supremacist conception of non-white Jews as sub-human, a leap that was not particularly hard since zionists don’t view Palestinians as humans. It is an operation that is qualitatively identical to the British elite kidnapping Indian children and using them as slaves or Belgian royalty using Congolese children as sex slaves and putting them in zoos. A description of a museum exhibit on the affair reads:

But perhaps none are more harrowing than WIZO’s fundraising campaign in the Jewish Women’s Review for the Jerusalem Baby Home. Depicting Middle Eastern Jewish children as neglected and abandoned by unfit mothers, the campaign describes Yemenite children as “half orphans.” A text from a WIZO publication mounted on the wall reads: “it has been found better to take the babies to hospital at this early stage than when the families have settled in, as the mothers are still so bewildered by their new conditions that they raise few objections.”²²

It often played out like this: a Yemeni family would immigrate to occupied Palestine on the promise that there was a Jewish paradise awaiting them. Upon arriving they would be placed in a camp for Yemeni and Mizrahi immigrants that had atrocious conditions. These conditions, created by the israeli state, were then used as evidence of the supposed backwardness and shortcomings of the parents in these camps. The state and social institutions, WIZO especially, would systematically coerce parents and expecting mothers into admitting their children to baby homes from which they would be transported to the hospital for a fabricated sickness. Inquiring parents were told their kids were dead, meanwhile the baby sat in a hospital somewhere waiting to be handed back over to WIZO, who would facilitate the child's adoption to a possibly foreign family. An account from a survivor of the affair who was kept in orphan facilities for years, held by people she calls “child merchants”:

At around age seven, Shoshana and her brother were taken to live in Gur Aryeh, an ultra-Orthodox institution in Bnei Brak, where again, all of the children were Yemenite. Every so often, they’d gather the children in one of the rooms – usually the one we used for prayers – and the door would open. ‘The American aunts’, as they were nicknamed, would enter. They spoke a foreign language. One by one, the girls would be called forward to be inspected by the staff. Then each girl would get back in line. Children regularly disappeared from Gur Aryeh, says Shoshana.²³

As one becomes more familiar with this affair and the breadth of its abuses, it is astounding that WIZO has been allowed to operate widely in occupied Palestine and throughout the world. Its violation of the rights of Jews is evidence of zionism’s ultimately anti-semitic nature; it breeds and feeds off anti-semitism. It is no wonder zionism and Nazism have a long and fruitful history of wretched collaboration.²⁴ The widespread knowledge of the affair within israeli society by the time Rabbi Boteach was introducing Elie Wiesel to WIZO officials seriously calls into question the judgment or even motivations of the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity in giving WIZO operational control of Beit Tzipora. The systematic racism faced by Ethiopians in israeli settler society is widely known.²⁵ Many white settlers of European descent view Ethiopian Jews the same way WIZO viewed Yemeni and Mizrahi kids in the 1950s and beyond.

As one looks at the language surrounding the initial missions of Beit Tzipora, a mission that has remained unchanged for nearly three decades, it’s hard not to imagine a more covert and sophisticated adaptation of the WIZO child trafficking and disappearance operations of yesteryear. Is it possible that old habits die hard? Is it possible that WIZO was using the Beit Tzipora centers to separate children from their families so they can be whisked away to wealthy families in israel and abroad? Families that may have ulterior motives other than adopting a child to be raised as one of their own. We would be ignorant, metaphysical, pig-headed fools to pretend that settler populations have not engaged in having young boys and girls of other nationalities act as their servants in a domestic and sexual context. In the same way that israeli society opportunistically uses Ethiopian Jews as seemingly liberal tinged evidence of their lack of societal racism and settler-colonialism, they also discriminate against Ethiopians and turn them into colonial shock troops destined to massacre Palestinians. We are implying a unity of opposites here, Ethiopians in israel are simultaneously used for diversity points while also being utilized in the larger Hitlerian project of killing all Palestinians. Similarly, Beit Tzipora is dressed up in a lot of feel good liberal tinged propaganda about promoting the interests of Ethiopian youth in israeli society and aiding in their integration. Yet all this rhetoric could very well provide cover for WIZO activities that do NOT promote the interests of these Ethiopian youth, specifically the aforementioned practice of trafficking and illegal adoptions. We realize this is an unfounded claim and we do not seek to accuse all schools or youth facilities as being trafficking/abuse fronts. We also refuse to pretend like WIZO does not have an extensive history of trafficking and disappearing non-white child immigrants to israel. There is no indication that WIZO has reckoned with its history and properly reformed itself, and we also recognize the ability of the zionist project to reform its public image over time in order to continue its heinous crimes, primarily targeted at the Palestinian nation.

At the very least, WIZO does not hide the fact that Beit Tzipora is used to prep Ethiopians for serving in the fascist genocidal IDF, as one Beit Tzipora site describes their “High Tech Class”, “This program accompanies pupils all the way through Grade 12, and helps integrate them into the elite IDF 8200 unit and other top fields in technology.”²⁶ This surveillance and psyop unit has been very active in collaborating with israeli and western tech using AI to identify Palestinians in Gaza they would like to kidnap for interrogation or assassinate in an airstrike.²⁷ The 8200 unit also directs the famous IDF social media brigades that pose as normal posters spreading pro-zionist talking points.

Calling the above theory unfounded does not mean there hasn’t been indications WIZO is up to their old tricks. Collins v. Schusterman is a case involving Marigold Collins, a British citizen who had her kids taken from her while living in occupied Palestine. She claimed the defendants; billionaire philanthropist Lynn Schustermann, WIZO, Children Village USA Inc., International fellowship of Christians and Jews, and israeli judge Yithak Amit, engaged in the “...false solicitations of funds from American donors to propel a booming industry of child trafficking, outplacements and snatching of children from natural parents ․” 2016 case law reads:

Plaintiff alleges that she is a British citizen who resides in Israel and she has two 10 year old daughters who resided with her…it appears that plaintiff's children were removed from her home after she sought assistance from Israeli social workers, and plaintiff claims that the social workers made false statements that the children were "at risk."... She alleges that the children were taken to a home operated by the Women's International Zionist Organization (WIZO), and she claims that the Israeli courts did not allow her present a defense to the charges that her children were "at risk."... She accuses WIZO of kidnapping her children and subjecting them to physical and emotional abuse, and she claims that the children were transferred to another home operated by S.O.S. Children's Village-USA, Inc. (SOS)... Plaintiff claims that Lynn Schustermann purportedly raises money to help at-risk children in Israel, but the money raised does not actually benefit children and donors are being mislead by Schustermann, WIZO, and SOS about the services provided to children... She states that the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ) serves as a conduit for funneling private donations from Schustermann to WIZO and SOS… Plaintiff alleges claims of common law detention and intentional infliction of emotional distress against WIZO and SOS, and a claim of false solicitation against Schustermann, WIZO, SOS and IFCJ.²⁸

The case was dismissed on grounds of, “lack of federal subject-matter jurisdiction and failure to state a claim.” Another interesting quote from a summary of the 2017 decision reads:

Collins alleged (1) Schusterman "illegally fund[ed] State terrorism," R. Vol. 1, at 9, (2) Schusterman received "the privilege of dictating to the Israeli Ministry of Welfare policies and methods of operation," id. at 29-30, and (3) the defendants' "practices constitute fraud in violation of the . . . FCPA, as donations to [the defendant] organizations can be used to buy influence—for example, by funneling funds or donating to an officials' favorite charity or cause,"²⁹

While the Oklahoma and federal legal systems attempted to make Collins’ claims seem ridiculous, WIZO has in fact been known to allow foreign donors to dictate welfare policies, as has been demonstrated in the Yemenite, Mizrahi, and Balkan children affair. Collins was right to point out that the particular nature of the alleged arrangement would go beyond dictating policy but down to the granular level of choosing children out of WIZO facilities to be kidnapped, assuming said arrangement exists. Collins' claims don’t seem so ridiculous considering new information that has come to light about abuse at SOS Children’s Villages (CV), who ran the facilities her kids were taken to. Rumors and allegations of child abuse against SOS Children’s Village in Austria, where the organization was founded and headquartered, were so rampant that apparently SOS CV had quietly launched an internal investigation in 2017 regarding abuse in CV facilities. This was the same year that Collins had her case dismissed in which she alleges exactly what SOS CV was investigating themselves for! “The allegations came to light through an external review in November 2020. SOS Children's Villages said it had started an initial investigation three years earlier.”³⁰

There was yet another investigation conducted on SOS CV, which produced its report in June 2023 to extremely limited media coverage. This report would prove to be extremely damning and we encourage all who are interested to read it in its entirety. The investigation was conducted by an “Independent Special Commission” (ISC) that, while staffed with outsiders, was ultimately established by SOS CV. Despite this, the ISC reported instances of SOS staff not cooperating completely with the ISC and a likelihood of destroyed records in places. The scope of the ISC was also very limited, with investigators only being able to physically visit ten villages out of the thousands of villages and often smaller Promoting and Supporting Associations (PSA)/Member Associations (MA) in the SOS CV federation. The investigation didn’t cover all regions either, continuing an SOS tradition of safeguarding Western Europe and America, “There was no assessment of the EUNA [Western Europe and North America] Region or the PSAs of SOS CV within either the ICSR or DTA Reports.”³¹ The region Marygold Collins’ kids would have first come into contact with SOS CV was likely MENA [Middle East and North Africa]. The investigation uses language unique to the MENA section in describing the severity of lacking structure and procedure regarding incidents of abuse:

The ISC notes that in 2017 the roles and responsibilities in reporting and responding procedures in child safeguarding were not clear to all IOR [International Office Region] MENA staff. No specific action was taken after receiving reports of alleged child safeguarding incidents reported by different staff at IOR MENA…The ISC has identified evidence supporting a lack of clarity in IOR MENA about roles and responsibilities regarding child safeguarding, which translated into an inability to respond to issues in SOS CV Syria effectively and efficiently.³²

The opportunism of SOS CV, and WIZO by extension, stemming from the imperialist war on Syria is certainly of interest to Digital Holodomor and we have not ruled out future investigation into SOS CV. For now we must stay on track. The ISC report describes just about every form of child abuse you can imagine; including rape, undocumented abortions, physical and emotional abuse, black mail, whistleblower intimidation, and what even the ISC alleges could constitute human trafficking. The report also describes a donor-beneficiary relationship that is similar to the operation WIZO ran during the Yemenite, Mizrahi, and Balkan children affair, where wealthy donors were given unrestricted access to kids in WIZO custody. The report states:

It has emerged that an individual who had been a donor for the construction of Children’s Villages had also abused children, in the period between 2010 and 2015. The donor was given special treatment, including permission to access Villages unsupervised in contravention of SOS CV policies, and to stay in the guest facilities located within the Village. This special treatment was afforded to him in part because of his association with a former senior official within the Federation and because the donor was known to staff due to the role he played in the construction.³³

This particular Austrian donor laundered somewhere around a million euros through Panama Paper banks³⁴ to SOS CV for the construction of village facilities in Nepal. In exchange this donor was given unrestricted access to children in these same villages, “...at which locations the donor is alleged to have sexually abused children based on a substantial amount of corroborating evidence against the donor gathered by the Austrian Prosecutor in the course of its investigation. The previous key leadership at the time also facilitated the travel of a boy victim from Nepal to Austria, to visit the donor.”³⁵ The report protects the identity of the now deceased donor and his accomplices, as well as all other senior figures found to have carried out or aided abuses. At the time of publication the SOS CV Nepal site reads, “Together with partners, donors [italics our own- D.H.], communities, children, young people and families, we enable children to grow up with the bonds they need to develop and become their strongest selves. We speak up for each child’s rights and advocate for change so all children can grow up in a supportive environment.”³⁶

The report also details instances of previously abused beneficiaries being given off the books “scholarships” to study in Europe. Both instances of this documented in the ISC report resulted in an incomplete education and the beneficiaries leaving Europe. One can only imagine what they may have been taken to Europe for. To us this was reminiscent of the patterns described in Simon Dovey’s fantastic Eye of the Chickenhawk, where previously abused kids are later paraded around for further abuses. Especially considering we know for a fact this happened in the case of the Austrian mystery donor described above. A sort of mail order child abuse.

When we consider this evidence and its implications, the WIZO-SOS CV relationship becomes clear. The use of money laundering and bribes in exchange for unrestricted access to children is the ideal model that WIZO historically seeks to establish. SOS CV is one of many organizations that WIZO can dump kids into in order to achieve an abuse conducive arrangement through more covert means than the Yemeni, Mizrahi, and Balkan children affair. We say all of this to draw the point that Elie Wiesel’s Beit Tzipora is possibly one of the organizations that falls into this practice and tradition. Once again, this isn’t substantiated but it’s undeniable that Elie Wiesel did a bang up job in finding an organization to manage Beit Tzipora. How many Marygold Collins’ are there in Ethiopia that had their kids taken from them by Beit Tzipora? How many Ethiopian settler kids have been taken by WIZO out of Beit Tzipora and passed into SOS CV? These scenarios are very much within the realm of possibility. Digital Holodomor is concerned but unsurprised at the lack of reporting and overall knowledge of the abuses within SOS CV, considering it operates in 130 countries and is the largest organization in the world of its kind. It is downright negligent and deceptive that SOS CV has a top rating on Charity Navigator and similar sites, given their propensity for child abuse, money laundering, corruption, and nepotism.

We will now shift our focus from the Beit Tzipora side of the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity to the foundation's modern era. Elie’s son, Elisha, assumed control of the foundation in 2021. Elisha spent his life serving the monopoly capitalist criminal cartel known as Goldman Sachs. He started on the trading floor as a strategist and eventually moved into the tech department, surely interfacing with intelligence and national security agents in the acquisition of predictive models along the way, considering he worked his way up to Chief Information Officer (CIO) in 2017. From 2010 to 2016 Elisha served as the Chief Risk Officer for the securities division. One can easily look into the myriad of securities related controversies Goldman was involved in during these years. It’s an especially auspicious time for Wiesel to assume this position, given the fallout of the 2008 financial crisis and Goldman’s massive profiteering from synthetic CDOs.

Elisha also served on the board of a program for disadvantaged youth in NYC called Good Shepherd Services. This is not to be confused with the apparently separate Good Shepherd Services in Baltimore that was forced to close following copious child abuse scandals. Elisha would raise millions for Good Shepherd NYC through a midnight scavenger hunt organized within Goldman. Given the previous discussion of donor-beneficiary relationships within the networks the Wiesel’s run in, we shudder to think about what a bunch of Goldman suits may expect in kickback, so to speak. Elisha is also a rabid zionist like his father, and has been an outspoken supporter of the ongoing israeli genocide of Palestinians. In his youth Elisha participated in the Marva program, where Jews from all over the world can travel to occupied Palestine and receive a two month basic training in the IDF. In fact, his abrupt exit from Goldman after a very brief stint as CIO was apparently motivated by his love of zionism. A Jewish Insider piece from 2020 states, “As he approached the brink of retirement, Wiesel began to notice a trend of Zionist voices being intentionally excluded from conversations in the LGBTQ community and other social justice issues. ‘My brain was exploding, I couldn’t process it,’ Wiesel said.”³⁷ This would lead to Wiesel linking up with a faux “progressive” zionist organization called Zioness, becoming a member of the board in 2020. We are perplexed as to how any employee of the Goldman cartel could possibly be any sort of progressive, especially given Elisha’s closeness with all stripes of reactionaries throughout his life.

In fact, one of his first adventures, days into retirement, was joining the, “...data and technology team powering the campaign to elect Mike Bloomberg for President.”³⁸ In addition to Mike Bloomberg’s specific brand of technocratic fascism, Elisha was drawn to his uncompromising zionism. Elisha said to Jewish Insider, “I’ll never forget Mike flying out to Israel, when the Gaza War was occurring…I was so impressed by that. But more generally, that was the balance I was sort of looking for in the political spectrum — people who understood the need for social justice, but also understood that you know, the answer is not Marxism.” This is an absurd statement, as the gap between Bloomberg and Marxism is so tremendous that Bloomberg could not possibly be some middle ground between Stalin and Mussolini, he is definitively with the latter. It is totally unclear what “social justice” issues the vile Bloomberg has ever stood for. Elisha continued his zionist activism following the fall of the Bloomberg campaign by organizing a 2021 pro-“israel” rally in D.C. An eJewish Philanthropy piece on the “protest” states:

The American Jewish Committee, the Anti-Defamation League, the Jewish Federations of North America, Republican and Democratic Jewish groups and the three major Jewish denominations also participated. The global response against Israel in May during and after the 11-day conflict with Hamas, which included attacks on American Jews, first inspired Wiesel with a desire to unify the American Jewish community in a condemnation of antisemitism, he said.³⁹

Uniting with rabid zionist Republikkkans and Demokkkrats alongside the terroristic ADL is quite the choice for a “progressive”. It’s no wonder progressive social movements are rightfully expelling zionists like Wiesel. In addition to these reactionary imitations of progressive activism, Wiesel has spent his retirement racking up a number of board positions in addition to the chairman of his fathers organization.⁴⁰ In 2021 he founded multi-manager investment platform ClearAlpha where he currently serves as CRO. From 2020 till present he has served as the chairman of the “Tel Aviv” based firm Entrio, which is, “the pioneer of Responsible Tech Adoption, helping financial institutions to manage and streamline their usage of technology with a Live Solutions Catalog.”⁴¹ From March 2023 to present he has served as a board member of investment software solutions company FactSet. Most of these entities are too small to have had any controversies make news. At the very least, Entrio is existing on occupied land and contributes to the ongoing occupation of Palestine. Given the synthesis between tech firms and the IDF, it is possible Entrio has collaborated directly with the IDF or Mossad.

Under Elisha’s tenure, the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity has experienced an uptick in activity, a marked departure from the inactivity following Elie’s death. The majority of this activity has been in more or less open collaboration with the U.S. State Department surrounding the supposed Uyghur “genocide” in the Xinjiang autonomous region of China. The foundation has both monetarily and organizationally supported the Adrian Zenz and intelligence agency connected groups most well known in this New Cold War operation. A page on the Elie Wiesel Foundation’s page reads:

How can Americans urge political leaders to do more to oppose the Chinese government’s genocide of ethnic Uyghurs? That’s been among the central concerns of the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity since it launched a grant-making program in October 2022. On Monday [July 2023], the foundation, which was founded in 1986, announced the first beneficiaries of its inaugural grant-making cycle, selected based on their commitment to advocating for the Uyghur community. The grantees in Uyghur advocacy include World Uyghur Congress, Uyghur Human Rights Project, World Jewish Watch ($250,000) and Ana Care & Education ($50,000).⁴²

Yet another page on the foundation site regarding this round of funding states, “Grants totaling US$550,000 were awarded to the activist organizations as well as to four other [additional to the above listed-DH] nonprofits for educational fellowships, though the specific amounts for each were not given.”⁴³ It is very likely that the money which funded The Secrets We Keep was acquired in this round of funding.

The support for the State Department and CIA connected World Uyghur Congress and Uyghur Human Rights Project is quite telling and indicative of deeper ties. Elisha Wiesel teamed up with white Christian nationalist Adrian Zenz, who is the China Director for the nazi loving Victims of Communism (VOC) Memorial Foundation, in testifying to congress on the Uyghur “genocide”. Wiesel’s hypocrisy around the questions of genocide and the well being of Muslims is put on full display in his hollow testimony:

We may say ‘never again,’ but genocide is in fact happening again, and it is happening on our watch…There is a place right now [in Xinjiang] where an entire people spend their days either experiencing or living in fear of imprisonment, forced sterilization, and torture, where the absence of a free press creates a blanket of darkness under which these crimes occur, from which a handful of eyewitnesses have survived to tell their story…⁴⁴

Genocide is happening right now! In Gaza, Tulkarem, Jenin, and all across the occupied Palestinian interior. And Elisha Wiesel not only supports it, he financially contributes to it! Wiesel is a signee and donor to the Jewish Future Promise, which is, “...focusing on the importance of sharing Jewish stories, values, and traditions with family and friends. JFP encourages individuals that if any charitable contributions are made upon passing, whether that be $10 or $10 million, at least 50% will be allocated to Jewish causes and/or the State of Israel.”⁴⁵ Not to mention the businesses Wiesel is involved with in “israel” and the aforementioned Beit Tzipora centers. During the summer of 2024, Elisha sent his Yale freshman son Elijah to participate in what may have been the same Marva program Elisha went through, as the sons now deleted instagram (@e_the_weasel) had pictures of him gallivanting about occupied Palestine in ill fitting fatigues with other pig brained amerikkkan failsons, playing pretend war criminal. A brief look at the personal social media accounts of the Wiesel family reveals their deep seated hate and racism for Arabs and muslims. Elijah frequently performs songs on his instagram, particularly zionist-nazi death metal songs that glorify settling Palestine and massacring Arabs, often playing up the crusader theme that christo-zio fascists are so fond of. We believe that Elisha Wiesel has great sympathy for muslims as much as we believe in the Uyghur “genocide”, that is to say, not at all.⁴⁶

As recently as April 2024 the Elie Wiesel Foundation co-hosted a “Disrupting Uyghur Genocide” conference in NYC with the US intelligence backed Uyghur Human Rights Project and World Uyghur Congress.

It is worth noting that the Uyghur related grants were made under the foundations “Activist Portfolio”. It is unclear how closely this relates to Elie Wiesel Social Action Fellowship that funded The Secrets We Keep, as none of these labels are ever clearly defined or differentiated from each other, but it is worth speculating that the funds of the Activist Portfolio and Social Action Fellowship are managed by similar people. Perhaps the most notable individual among them is Natan Sharansky, member of the Foundation's Grant Selection Committee. Sharansky was a Soviet refusenik, where he likely had his first contact with US/israeli intelligence agencies. He would go on to have a long career in the politics and governance of the fascist zionist entity; serving as the israeli Minister of Industry and trade from 1996-99, Minister of Internal Affairs from 1999-2000, Deputy Prime Minister from 2001-03, Minister of Housing & Construction from 2001-03, and Minister of Jerusalem Affairs from 2003-05. He was also briefly elected to the KKKneSSet in 2006 as a member of the Likud party, the same party of Hitlerite genocidaire PM Netanyahu. Sharansky oversaw the theft of Palestinian land and expansion of illegal settlements all across the West Bank.⁴⁷ There can be little doubt that Sharansky also oversaw the extrajudicial assassination and massacre of Palestinian civilians and activists. It is extremely concerning that this is one of the people doling out money for their God-forsaken “Activist Portfolio”.

Sharansky had this to say regarding the Uyghur situation, “[The] Chinese regime de facto keeps the Uyghur people in concentration camps, treating them in the most inhuman way. It's probably the most massive violation of human rights in our time, while the Free World's response is disproportionately weak to the scope of this crime.”⁴⁸ You have to be a brain dead rube at best and a conscious agent of US imperialism at worst to believe this foolishness, especially after a year of watching israeli death squads massacre men, women, and children in Gaza. Sharansky is surely the latter. In fact, Sharansky’s recent crimes illuminate the true nature of the Elie Wiesel Foundation and possibly the career path Danielle Wiransky has set upon.

Sharansky was the subject of a November 2024 leak from the Iranian hacker group Handala. The leak included private photos of Sharanksy with family members and Netanyahu, along with this statement:

Natan Sharansky, Bibi's close friend and constant advisor. Apparently a politician, human rights activist and former director of the Jewish Agency! But he manages many Mossad cover offices around the world! The covert offices under Natan's support have become the place of execution of Mossad officers' appointments! Offices that appear to be NGO studies of anti-Semitism, but are actually Mossad recruiting and placement offices! [Boldened text is our own-D.H.] His constant advisors to his close friend Bibi are endless! Ronen Bar, do you know about Natan's 7-minute call with Bibi on Sunday afternoon? Do you know that he proposed to fire you? We will wait! But you must check that call!

It seems increasingly likely that the function of the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity may be the same as the myriad of NGOs, charities, doctoral research centers, etc. focused on Jewish studies/anti-semitism that Sharansky manages, either publicly or in the background, on behalf of Mossad and in the interest of US imperialism. It is worth noting that the details regarding the firing of Ronen Bar did play out in 2025.

Another member of the foundation’s Advisory Board on Uyghur Crisis is Mark Hetfield, the CEO of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS). HIAS officially began collaborating in the occupation of Palestine in 1950 by aiding in the settlement of Jews on Palestinian land, but by their own admission were operating unofficially in Palestine prior to the Nakba. HIAS also helped Ethiopians move to “israel” during the 1980s and 90s,⁴⁹ indicating possible collaboration with Beit Tzipora. If Hetfield and Sharansky were among those approving funds for The Secrets We Keep, there can be no doubt that it is little more than a cynical Holocaust exploitation play meant to launder good will towards the zionist entity.

Now we will shift focus to another aspect of the contradiction between the supposed progressive values of The Secrets We Keep and the historical materialist reality of why this play was really made. We will turn away from the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity side of things and focus on the academic players that facilitated the plays production.

Danielle Wiransky created The Secrets We Keep while under the mentorship of Dr. Nathan Stoltzfus, the Dorothy and Jonathan Rintels Professor of Holocaust studies at Florida State University. Stoltzfus is the head of the Rosenstrasse Foundation, of which Danielle is a researcher and her brother Liam is the Director of Research and Development. From 2017 to 2023 Liam was also the President and Artistic director of White Mouse Productions, the outfit Danielle founded and still serves as Financial Director.

Danielle is currently pursuing a PhD at Florida State University and is doing a dissertation on the common experiences of women soldiers in the British Special Operations Executive (SOE) during WWII. When asked in an interview with WJCT First Coast Connect what she hopes to produce through this dissertation, Wiranksy states, “...The experience of women in the Holocaust is really understudied…Focusing on the Holocaust in terms of gender is something that still needs to be explored…I’m amplifying the contributions these women [spies] made and finding new things we can draw from, to learn about gender studies from the past that can apply today.”⁵⁰ We would disagree that there hasn’t been ample scholarship on women in the Holocaust or the contributions of women to the SOE. It is fair to say that much of the scholarship on these topics are, from a historical materialist standpoint, quite disappointing. Perhaps one of the most neglected aspects of WWII scholarship is the experience of Jews and women in the USSR; both as subjects of, and resistors to, the nazis. This would make significantly more sense for Wiransky to focus on, considering there were magnitudes more Soviet women involved in operations behind enemy lines than British SOE agents. It would also give her an opportunity to learn a little bit about slavic women who gave their lives struggling against the nazis, lives that Danielle has been opportunistically exploiting in her uninspired drivel The Secrets We Keep. She even admits in her interview with WJCT that she is only getting a PhD so people won’t question her authority in producing more Holocaust plays. Danielle, if you are so audacious to admit this, at least have the foresight to produce something worthwhile to your goals! Wiransky goes as far as to claim in her WJCT interview that the SOE, “Used women [spies] the most.” According to Michael R.D. Foot, the official British historian of the SOE, about 3,000 women worked for the SOE. This number is dwarfed by the thousands of female spies the Soviets deployed in WWII, a number that can be dialectically paired with the tens of thousands of Soviet women and teens who served as partisans in occupied territories; who carried out reconnaissance, sabotage, and guerilla attacks often in plain clothes. Wiransky is focusing her dissertation on the French section, which consisted of less than 50 women. Wiransky’s neglect of anti-fascist slavic women is not by happenstance, but rather a reflection of her generally anti-communist euro-centric worldview. She is mechanically replicating the anti-Bolshevik, implicitly pro-capitalist, position of the SOE.

It is interesting that Wiransky has decided to pursue scholarship about spies, considering her mentor Dr. Stoltzfus past and where she will be working on this dissertation. Wiransky is producing her dissertation as a Fulbright scholar at the Yad Vashem Holocaust remembrance center, located in occupied Jerusalem. When asked in her WJCT interview about safety concerns around living in israel as the Palestinians justly resist their wholesale slaughter in not just Gaza but also the West Bank, Wiranksy responds, “I think I do have some safety concerns but I do know that there are always safety precautions put in place for the citizens of israel and I have a lot of family there too so I feel confident in knowing I’ll be in good hands and I know my University has my back too, should anything arise.” It would make sense that Wiranksy has settlers in her family, as her father Eyal is an israeli AI specialist living in Jacksonville, FL. Danielle is perfectly aware of the genocide happening miles from where she will be working on her dissertation, because she supports it wholeheartedly. Surely this is not the same person who said of her own play, “...the high emotions of those events [during the Holocaust] really lends itself to musicals…one of the greatest things that we can learn from the Holocaust, not just like dates and facts, is empathy.” Where is the empathy for the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians slaughtered by israel? Will she write a weepy October 7th hasbara musical there in occupied Palestine?

One can’t help but wonder what other activities Danielle may be engaged in while in israel, as she has already had one pursuit funded by Natan Sharansky and could very well be engaged in further activities with intelligence agencies through cultural and academic cutouts. This would make sense considering the many suspect activities of Nathan Stoltzfus.

Stoltzfus began his academic career at Goshen College in Indiana before getting a PhD at Harvard, producing a dissertation titled The Social Limitations on the Nazi Dictatorship. He would continue his work at Harvard as a graduate affiliate of the Program on Nonviolent Sanctions. It is hard for us to imagine how depriving civilian populations of food, medicine, and other essential goods could possibly be an act of nonviolence. As a Harvard academic Stoltzfus most likely made his first contact with US intelligence, as he would travel to East and West Germany before and after the fall of the Berlin wall. He made these trips as a Fulbright scholar and then later with the International Research and Exchange Board (IREX). Both of these programs have been known to work alongside intelligence agencies, using academics as intelligence assets sent to other countries to gather information and at times directly engage in espionage work. IREX receives a large portion of its funding from the US Agency for International Development (USAID), which on paper was founded to provide economic and cultural development to countries around the world. In reality, USAID has been a tool through which the American intelligence community can launder intelligence ops through seemingly legitimate academic and cultural endeavors. Mark Weisbrot, as an economist with the Center for Economic and Policy Research, admitted, “In a number of countries, including Venezuela and Bolivia, USAID is acting more as an agency involved in covert action, like the CIA, than as an aid or development agency.” IREX also receives funding from the State Department, the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), the Bureau of Intelligence and Research and the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor. IREX also provides funding to Internews, a media support nonprofit that seeks to prop up independent media, NGOs, and journalists who will spread pro-US/NATO talking points. Internews also receives funding from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and the State Department.⁵¹

Beyond its almost openly intelligence directed funders, IREX has been directly linked to CIA activity. An October 1981 edition of the Rochester Times-Union states, “U.S. professors going to Russia are interrogated by the CIA before leaving, said Professor Barbara Meehan-Walters, co-director of the UR’s [University of Rochester] Russian Studies program and IREX exchange.”⁵² It’s hard to believe this practice had died by the time Stoltzfus was traveling to the socialist GDR as an IREX scholar just a few years later, where by his own admission, Stoltzfus established a friendship with an East German Stasi agent! “It brings to mind a friend and Stasi agent, who in 1988 told me that East Germany could tear down the wall and the East German people would stay.”⁵³ It is anecdotes like this that make us believe the much maligned Stasi were possibly not paranoid enough, if they felt comfortable chumming it up with someone as suspect as Stoltzfus. There is little doubt in our mind that Stoltzfus passed along his insight on East German intelligence and governance to his possible American intelligence handlers, wittingly or unwittingly. Former IREX scholar Dr. Katherine Verdery is more honest about her experiences doing research in a socialist country, stating in her review of David Price’s Cold War anthropology: The CIA, the Pentagon, and the growth of dual use anthropology:

Between 1973 and 1988, I and a number of other scholars made several trips to Romania with funding from the organization IREX (International Research and Exchanges Board), founded expressly to facilitate scholarly exchange between the United States and the Soviet bloc. I occasionally asked IREX staff what its funding sources were and was told what can still be found on various websites: grants from the Ford Foundation, the State Department’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, and the National Endowment for the Humanities, as well as funds from the Social Science Research Council and the American Council of Learned Societies…It did not occur to me then to wonder which of these might itself be funded by CIA front organizations, yet now I learn from Price that the Ford Foundation, inter alia, was a channel for a great deal of money whose sources I would not have wanted to have associated with my research. His emphasis on the unwitting collaboration of anthropologists with the CIA adds a new dimension to my recent research in my Romanian secret police (Securitate) file (Verdery 2014, forthcoming a), from which I have learned that the officers saw virtually all US scholars as CIA agents/collaborators, and they spent enormous amounts of time searching for evidence to prove that we were spies. Reading Price’s book, I find their view even more plausible than I had at first and am grateful to him for calling this possible collaboration “unwitting.”⁵⁴

The reality of IREX is clear to any paranoid mind that investigates its founding, “In 1968, leading U.S. universities established IREX (International Research & Exchanges Board) with support from the Ford Foundation, the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS), the Social Science Research Council (SSRC), and the U.S. Department of State.”⁵⁵ The helping hand of the fascistic Ford Foundation can be seen as interchangeable with the CIA. There is overwhelming evidence to support this fact, but it is easiest to cite the aforementioned David Price book at length:

The CIA's intrusion into the foundation field in the 1960s can only be described as massive. Excluding grants from the “Big Three” — Ford, Rockefeller, and Carnegie — of the 700 grants over $10,000 given by 164 other foundations during the period 1963-1966, at least 108 involved partial or complete CIA funding. More importantly, CIA funding was involved in nearly half the grants the non-“Big Three” foundations made during this period in the field of international activities. In the same period more than one-third of the grants awarded by non-“Big Three” in the physical, life and social sciences also involved CIA funds.⁵⁶

Some more from Price:

Bruce Cumings’s examination of how Philip Mosely linked the CIA, the Ford Foundation, and area study centers at various universities clarifies how the CIA used private foundations, such as Ford, to shape academic research during the 1950s and 1960s. Cumings cited 1953 correspondence between Mosley and Paul Langer discussing how the Ford Foundation would consult with CIA director Allen Dulles to establish how Ford-funded research projects could be selected in ways that coalesced with the CIA’s needs.⁵⁷

But IREX is not the only CIA-Ford connected outfit that Stoltzfus worked with in his early career. While at Harvard Stoltzfus would become a graduate affiliate of the Program on Nonviolent Sanctions (PONS), housed in the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard. He would also be awarded a fellowship from the Boston-based Albert Einstein Institution (AEI) to support his work on the nonviolent Rosenstrasse protest in Nazi Germany. AEI was founded by scholar of nonviolence and imperial regime change methods Gene Sharp and CIA advisor Thomas Schelling. Schelling recruited Sharp for the Harvard Center for International Affairs in the 60s while Sharp was engaged in a study of nonviolent resistance to the fascist, Nazi-aligned government of Norway. At the Center Sharp would receive funding from the Department of Defense to produce his three volume dissertation on nonviolent political action. In 1983 Sharp, with the help of Schelling, would form PONS and AEI as complementary weapons in the final push of the Cold War and the years beyond. The center had been forced to rebrand and increasingly utilized academic cutout organizations to interface with intelligence agencies. PONS and AEI are nothing more than a new coat of paint slapped onto the old face of the Center for International Affairs at Harvard that had been an eager collaborator with the CIA in past decades,⁵⁸ a collaboration so widely known that the building was the site of weekly protests during the Vietnam war and the target of a Weatherman bombing. While PONS acted as the research and development lab for perfecting the “color revolution”, AEI handled the practical implementation of these tactics all across the world. By simultaneously justifying sanctions that kill civilians and developing neoliberal movement tactics for foreign interference, PONS/AEI became an effective weapon that could help target both the economic base of a country and its superstructure through culture, media, politics, and academia. From 1983 onward Sharp, Schelling, and their more public spook accomplice Colonel Robert Helvey⁵⁹ would travel the world fomenting unrest in countries with governments hostile to the interests of the U.S. and NATO, while occasionally acting as a coolant in countries with popular armed movements, as they did in Myanmar. From its founding through the 2000s, Sharp would travel to the USSR, Yugoslavia, China, Georgia, Myanmar, Burma, Venezuela, Hong Kong, Taiwan, occupied Palestine, Tibet, Belarus, Zimbabwe, Ukraine, and many more.

One notable visit to China was to help orchestrate the reactionary pro-capitalist Tiananmen uprising, “...Sharp has always been present everywhere American interests are put at risk. In June 1989, he and his assistant, Bruce Jenkins, went to Beijing, two weeks before Tiananmen events. They were both expelled by Chinese authorities.”⁶⁰ Another notable Sharp collaboration was with the then director of the “Psychological Actions” division of the israeli army, Colonel Reuven Gal. Sharp flew to “israel” in 1988 and, in direct collaboration with Gal, trained Palestinians in nonviolence at the American embassy in Tel Aviv.⁶¹ People have used this instance to show that Sharp doesn’t always act in the interest of the U.S. In fact, the purpose of this training was to sow discord among the PLO affiliated groups in an attempt to draw Palestinians away from their widely supported armed resistance. Another Sharp Gal crossover occurred in 1990, and very well may have involved Nathan Stoltzfus, as he would have likely been involved with AEI and/or PONS at this point. “In February 1990, the Albert Einstein Institution hosted a Conference on Non Violent Sanctions that brought together 185 experts of 16 countries under Colonels Robert Helvey and Reuven Gal. This marked the beginning of an international anticommunist crusade to involve peoples in nonviolent action.”⁶² If Stoltzfus was present, there can be little doubt he reported back on his experience in East Germany just before and after the collapse of the Berlin wall the previous year. This would also likely be his first interactions with israeli intelligence agents.

Much has been written on the suspect activity of Gene Sharp and his AEI/PONS accomplices, and we highly recommend Change Agent: Gene Sharp’s Neoliberal Nonviolence by Marcie Smith for a fuller account of Sharp’s trailblazing in the field of regime change and psychological operations. It can not be emphasized enough how prolific he is in the field of imperialist regime change.

It may seem easy to discount Stoltzfus’ connections with AEI/PONS and Sharp as inconsequential to the overall direction of his work and little more than school formalities. But Stoltzfus is a full blown disciple of Sharp, and Sharp’s philosophical outlook seems to be the determining aspect in Stoltzfus’ work. It can be seen in Stoltzfus’ lifelong replication of the work Sharp was doing on peaceful resistance to Nazism in Norway, as almost all of Stoltzfus’ work revolves around peaceful political action in Nazi Germany. Even Marcie Smith identifies Stoltzfus as one academic follower of Sharp:

Promoters of Sharpian nonviolent action are strangely fixated on demonstrating the centrality of nonviolent methods in defeating the German Nazi war machine. Titles include…‘Social Limitations on the Nazi Dictatorship: Jewish/‘Aryan’ Intermarriages in Germany 1935-45’ by Nathan Stoltzfuz…‘Resistance of the Heart: Intermarriage and the Rosenstrasse Protest in Nazi Germany’ by Nathan Stoltzfus. Sharp himself, along with Sharpian trainer George Lakey, describes the Norwegian nonviolent resistance as successful, when in fact the pro-Nazi Quisling regime, like Vichy France, remained in power and participated in the “Final Solution” until the end of World War II – an end that was largely achieved, it may be worth noting, by Stalin’s Soviet state.

Digital Holodomor gives a resounding cosign to this analysis. At the heart of the Sharpian method is the hypocrisy and implicit fascism of people like Stoltzfus, the Wiesel’s, and of course Danielle Wiransky. Stoltzfus has mentored Wiransky in the analytical methods of Sharpian thought through their collaboration at the FSU Rosenstrasse Foundation, where they have obsessed over the peaceful resistance to German fascism and “resistance of the heart” while completely ignoring the actual armed resistance that was being waged by Communists, anarchists, oppressed nationalities, and most of all the Red Army advancing under the banner of Stalin. Wiransky has in turn taken this tutelage and produced worthless reactionary trash such as The Secrets We Keep and her forthcoming dissertation, which we discussed earlier. The dissertation’s slanted focus on a few western women spies rather than the guerilla actions of thousands of Soviet women under nazi occupation makes much more sense when one realizes Wiransky is employing the Sharpian method which vilified armed struggle and the heroism of martyrdom in favor of the limp neoliberal “existence is resistance” model of political action. The Sharpians’ anti-communism puts them firmly with the Nazis in both theory and practice. They quite literally fought on the battlefield of academia and politics AGAINST the true vanquishers of Hitler, the socialist bloc. The horrifying collapse in living conditions and social services that occurred in formerly socialist states such as Russia, states that Sharp and possibly Stoltzfus helped destroy from within, is an indictment of the entire worldview these people espouse. The fact that they see the collapse of communism that directly led to the death and sexual exploitation of millions of people as a victory for freedom and progress makes the whole ordeal even more sickening.

In the name of opposing genocide and fascism, Stoltzfus and co. embrace the very mechanisms and methods that breed genocide and fascism. At every turn they provide cover for genocide by either ignoring ongoing genocides that don’t align with their worldview; as Sharp did with Vietnam and later Iraq, and as Stoltzfus and Wiransky have done to the Palestinian genocide. In fact, a chief goal of their Holocaust scholarship is to justify the Palestinian genocide by hyperfocusing on the Holocaust as the Last Genocide that exonerates the zionist entity of its crimes.

We are far from the first people to recognize that the Sharpian method actually provides cover for regime change and heinous war crimes. In the 2000s Sharp became the target of much criticism from governments like Venezuela and Iran for his work trying to overthrow their governments, as well as a number of academics and writers, such as Thierry Meyssan.⁶³ All of this came to a head in June 2008 when University of San Francisco professor Stephen Zunes circulated a letter in defense of Gene Sharp.⁶⁴ The letter is full of easily refutable lies, such as, “Nor does Dr. Sharp or the Albert Einstein Institution collaborate with the CIA, the NED, or any U.S. government or government-funded agencies; nor has Dr. Sharp or the Albert Einstein Institution ever provided financial or logistical support to any opposition groups in any country; nor has Dr. Sharp or the Albert Einstein Institution ever taken sides in political conflicts or engaged in strategic planning with any group.” These absurd claims can largely be refuted through AEI’s own website and annual reports on activity and funding throughout the years.⁶⁵ Especially laughable is the idea that Sharp never took sides or provided logistical support, considering his repeated training sessions with Serbian opposition group Otpor and the symposium hosted by former Lithuanian Minister of Defense, Audrius Butkevicius, which specifically thanked AEI for their role in the Baltic independence process.⁶⁶ Many puppets of empire cosigned the lies laid out by Zunes; such as Noam Chomsky and Sharp disciple George Lakey.

Yet another clown on the list of signatories is Nathan Stolzfus, a Sharpian to the very bitter end! So is the cycle of imperial academia. A fraud built on top of piles of smaller frauds. A system so legitimized by its esteemed legacies that it is seen by many as an institution as old as the trees, serving its role in preparing the well to do petit bourgeois youth for their futures in middle management and bureaucracy. But the academy is not just a glorified prep school, it is an organized weapon that has the capability to influence politics, war, culture, and medicine. Each academic adheres to the liberal ethical code, “To let things drift if they do not affect one personally; to say as little as possible while knowing perfectly well what is wrong, to be worldly wise and play safe and seek only to avoid blame. This is a third type [of liberalism].”⁶⁷ Each academic dreads the day they are wheeled into the light and brought to task for the fact that their work is often funded by war criminals, intelligence agents, pedophiles, human traffickers, and financial criminals. So, it is easier for no one to talk about it.

Let them write and sign their letters of support straight into irrelevance, until the dustbin of history overflows with their work! “The people, and the people alone, are the motive force in the making of world history.”⁶⁸
